Feeling excluded from team

Anonymous
That happened to me! I was a member of a small team and they'd all quietly leave and go to lunch. One time I overheard Larla1 ask Larla2 if she should ask me to join the rest of the group for lunch. Larla2 said no, don't invite her. Larla2 didn't like me, but she wound up fired. Oh well! So long Larla2!

Don't let it bother you too much. My guess is there's a mean girl ringleader who wants you to be left out. Enjoy your alone time.

OP here. Well, I mentioned that I would love to join and they invited me the next day (just to make a point, I suspect). It's been two weeks since and they continue to go out together nearly every day for hours at a time. No other invitations.

This sucks.

Do you actually want to eat lunch with them?

So your boss and his/her boss are part of this secret lunch society? That's a load of crap. Shame on them for allowing and participating in such exclusionary behavior.

Is there another department or team you can transfer to? I'm not saying that's the right answer but such exclusionary tactics are highly inappropriate. I'm a boss and I'd never dream of doing such a thing to my team. I'm so sorry you're dealing with this.

How was the lunch? How did they act towards you? What did they talk about?
