DC1 - 2, Nutcracker at Kennedy.
DC2 - 4, Carmen at Wolf Trap, in which DC1 was singing.
A year later, 9th symphony at Wolf Trap.
And somewhere in there, Saint-Saens' s Carnival of the Animals.

I may be way off the mark here, but I'm pretty sure the Nutcracker isn't a concert. Unless the sarcasm went way over my head. Which is entirely possible.

I didn't mean to be sarcastic, but if OP meant a contemporary music concert, then she should have said so. I am well aware of the differences between concerts, ballets and operas.

Just wanted to fly my lone little classical flag here

Nope. You just wanted to advertise that you think your kids are more cultured that our kids.
You know Carmen and the Nutcracker are not concerts.

People who want to take offense will always find a way to do it!

Honestly, the Nutcracker didn't hold the toddler's interest. He fell asleep in the middle. However Carmen was wonderful. DD was so happy to see a show that her older brother was singing in.
They sat through the 9th symphony calmly, but enjoyed Carnival of the Animals so much more, which is unsurprising given that it's so kid-friendly.

And no, I don't think that my children are more cultured than yours. We have different tastes, that's all.

The question was concerts. We have been to several events at the Kennedy Center but the question was not performances but concerts. So like everyone else I responded about the first concert.

7, Taylor Swift

A ballet or an opera is not a concert.

3. They Might Be Giants, but the kids set. We will also go to things like the military bands, local bands in the park, etc.

Now he's 8 I really want to take him to something real, like at the Birchmere, which doesn't have an age restriction for all shows.

DD9 - Nick Jonas.
Was supposed to be an all ages show. But the opening act - Bebe Rexha (sp?) didn't get the memo. She was dropping f-bombs left and right. My daughter was amused and horrified all at the same time.

I had no idea They Might Be Giants was still around.

4 months, an outdoor festival. (Does that count?)

Age 12: One Direction. Thank god DW took her; I did not have to go. FWIW, DD hated it -- was too loud for her (not the music, but the screening girls).

She wants to go to a classical concert....I will accommodate that.

Oh, and she is looking forward to accompanying me to Weird Al at Wolf Trap.

7, Taylor Swift. And, she was by far not the youngest kid there.

Personally, I would not have cared for any of these events, but I care less for the cretin for would make such an ugly comment. Why do people have to be such haters on this forum?

12 - Imagine Dragons

OP here, Imagine Dragons for a 12 year old sounds cool. Did they like it? I was considering taking my 12 year old to the twenty-one pilots concert (his and my current favorite band) but after seeing reviews, I'm afraid it might be a little too much, pushy crowds, crowd surfing, mosh pit. I don't think so, darn, cause I wanted to go but wouldn't be able to get away with going without him. Anyone here seen this show?

Wow, it took only four posts (or six, depending on your view) for the thread to go all DCUM.
