Thanks PPs. Yes, I know that Lee is at ITS for this year (although the recent email made that seem like a 99% certainty not 100%). But I don't necessarily want to start DC at a school that will be inconvenient after the first year. And in my experience, location struggles can last a while. It's true I'm not that interested in Montessori, hence no SSMA, no Langdon, no Breakthrough. I only put Lee because the open house impressed me, and because it might possibly have a good location. As you can see from my list, first priority is immersion/DCI. Second group is charters offering middle school, CMI last because it is the farthest away. Third group is the others that are feasible and appealing. As you can see, we are positive enough on Langley that we didn't feel the need to list 12 schools. |

1) Inspired Teaching 2) Two Rivers 4th St 3) SWS 4) Ludlow-Taylor -- probably no chance we'll get in OOB, but figured we have nothing to lose listing it 5) Lee Montessori 6) Shining Stars Montessori 7) J.O. Wilson 8) Miner 9) WEDJ 10) Noyes (IB) We are optimistic about the Montessori approach for our child, but not sold on it. Otherwise we tried to balance location (close to home or along a bike-able commute path) and our desire for a child centered, exploratory, play based or Reggio like approach. |

Yes, I can see that, and it's a well reasoned approach. Far from being a Lee "booster", I was actually encouraging you to NOT pick our school if you are half-hearted about Montessori and the absence of other Montessori schools was definitely a hint, despite what hostile PP says. And not having a permanent location is a very real concern and reason to list other schools higher (as a parent it's a concern of mine too). Langley is very promising and there are benefits to being in your neighborhood school that you won't get from a far flung charter, however "highly regarded". Good luck! |
+1. Who is this angry poster who keeps bashing Lee and twisting anything everyone says about it? What is her problem? I just don't get it. She seems to have a vested interested in bashing the school and she does it again and again. |
Thanks Our list is really a compromise between myself and DH, who is more interested in Montessori but has a very low tolerance for commuting. But if we end up at Lee, I promise to be a good school parent! I really am impressed by what you guys have accomplished in just a few years.

Our list for PK3, live in Petworth:
1. Creative Minds 2. EL Haynes 3. Yu Ying 4. Powell (IB) 5. Bridges 6. Breakthrough 7. Cap Cities 8. Raymond I'm sure we'll get into Powell even with a terrible number as they took all IB PK3 last year, but felt like we should list a few below it just in case. If Raymond is our only match, we will likely pay for another year at daycare but who knows, perhaps it would be okay for 1-2 years. Pretty confident it won't come to that. |
I'm surprised you put Cleveland above Seaton. I guess if Seaton is your IB you have nothing to lose, but Seaton seemed far better to me. If dual language isn't your #1 priority I wouldn't waste my time commuting for PK to a charter. Seaton is good enough. But hey, I applied for Seaton OOB so hoping you don't take your slot so I can have it.
