Nope. Not at all really. Maybe it's more of a thing with teens who don't read history?

BWAH HAHAHAHA. It's pretty true to history - Miranda took some dramatic license, but Ron Chernow fact-checked the whole thing for him.

FWIW, I love Hamilton. I majored in history and still read more nonfiction than fiction 25 years later. But if you prefer to think that only uneducated people like Hamilton, knock yourself out.

Same for my three year old. She blew her teenage babysitters mind when she started talking to her about it.

+1

My DH teaches Congressional policy, and is seriously thinking about playing some clips from "Hamilton" to his classes next semester. He already has other pop culture clips in his file, and these are a good recent addition.

How can one see this without spending a million dollars?

I posted on another Hamilton-related thread (I think it was on the Grammy thread). I saw it before Christmas. My sister works in the "industry" and was able to get us access to tickets - although they are still pricey. It was the biggest waste of money. I personally was disappointed although I absolutely love Lin-Manuel and would see any production he is involved with.

I think the problem was my expectations were just too high.

That's ridiculous. It's only been on Broadway since August, tickets are still impossible, Tony nominations aren't even out yet, and it's still the original fantastic cast.

Some people love to hate what other people like. There's plenty of crap on Broadway but this isn't it.

"The coach bag of Broadway"? WTF does that even mean? It's an amazing show, it's sold out until November. I suppose you can just not like it, but dumping on it for stupid snobby reasons just shows how lame you are.

Coach bag as in it was nice when not everyone had one. You read the wrong thing into it. Everyone is into Hamilton now and I'm quickly getting over it.

Random fact: The original cast recording of Hamilton was #1 on the Billboard rap charts. II have friends who have been into rap/hip-hop for a long time, and they are really impressed with how great that aspect of it is.

Haha in pretty sure only being "into" a musical because it's very popular is the definition of lame. Get more cultured.

I don't see how a musical can be not as nice because a lot of people like it. That's just being a reverse snob.

I won the ticket lottery, so it cost $10 a ticket for front-row center seats. The odds aren't great, but the price is right!

Didn't say it wasn't nice. I love the music and congrats to Miranda but everyone is into it now and I can't escape it. Has nothing to do with anything else.
