I am through baby! One year in menopause and done!

Good for you all that are handling it well. It's been fairly easy for me too in that I haven't had hot flashes or mood swings. But, I'm not loving the sexual side effects. I've lost sensitivity. I have had to start using creams and lube for dryness and itching. I've also become more susceptible to yeast infections. It just seems my genitals are a lot more delicate now and less responsive ...

Wow. I have friends who have had debilitating hot flashes For 9 years - and counting.

Mine is awful - I'm on Hrt. Hot flashes every 5-10 minutes, no sleep at all, brain fog, creaky joints and dry lady parts.
No thanks! Just a small amount of HRT and I'm like a new woman (new old woman , just like I used to be).

I am trying my best not to hate you... but I am really, really jealous.

In my third year of "just when I thought I was done with the periods...."

I'm almost 50 and while my periods are no longer regular, I still get them! I just don't know when.

I have mostly night sweats, but those don't occur on a regular basis. And I sometimes have hot flashes, but they're usually in the early morning. More often than not, I'm cold! sounds crazy

This year has been tough with weight, however. I used to take it off in a hot flash (pun intended), but now it's close to impossible.

I should start weight training to fight off osteoporosis, which affects women on Mom's side.

Almost 46. A few months of hot flashes and night sweats but mostly nothing but a really messed up cycle. Just went through a 10 day period, I think.

My mom had a horrible time with menopause. I'm hoping I don't follow that but generally if my mom went through it, I do too.

Congrats, OP!

Does that mean they're still in perimenopause? Or do people still get hot flashes once they get through menopause?

I'm wondering this also. I'm two years out from my last period and I haven't had hot flashes. I get hot while sleeping sometimes, but not to the level of night sweats. I'm wondering if I've somehow gotten tremendously lucky, or if I still could have all of that ahead of me and I need to keep my fingers crossed.

OP here. I still get the occasional hot flash. Maybe 1 per month? So there must be a few hormones in the system after the period goes away.

If so, how?

Are you a man or woman?

I'm sort of in a perimenopause menopause mixture now. Mostly no periods, but after 8 months I got one. I love my periods too - good sex drive
and the hormones are actually life affirming.
Anyway, I can even feel the non stop hot flashes (very lightly) even with the HRT so it's bad.

Your ovaries generate testosterone which is where a woman gets her sex drive. As your ovaries are kind of drying up there isn't as much testosterone being made.
So, less of a sex drive and things take a little longer which I don't like. My attitude is use or or lose it though so I try for 2 times a week with the DH to
keep things going. I'm still having fun!

I'm in perimenopause (at the end of it) and sometimes I get a period and I notice during those cycles my sex drive is way better.

I have a friend who has had hot flashes for 10 years. That's a long time. It's easy for some, not so much for others.
Some people have debilitating hot flashes, but fewer of them. Some have them all the time. Some have little ones and don't notice.
Everyone is different.
