Online dating-have you been stood up?

I have been on many online dates and have never been stood up.

I just went on a pretty bad date tonight, and I agree with this! It's the first time I didn't speak with the person first on the phone. Great advice.

I have never been stood up, but who knows. It will probably happen sooner or later! But less likely if you talk first - and make sure you know a lot about them. I am an amazing web sleuth and can always find out who they are in real life before I meet. Before people jump all over me here, I do it because I am terrified of meeting lunatics or ax murderers. To me, it's scary to go and meet a total stranger.

Like he leaves you waiting at a bar? Or plans are initiated but not followed through with?

The latter happens all the time, the former never to me.

Yes, I meant waiting at a bar. But to your second point, do people not follow through a lot?

Not the poster you're quoting, but similar here. I online dated pretty actively for about a year (met 12 different people in person) and while I was never actually left sitting anywhere, I did have plans that either were cancelled or never got finalized with about 4 other people.
