Recommend your premium sunscreen for my face

There are some good recommendations here and some poor recommendations. The level of SPF is not dispositive. It is the presence of AVA/AVB protection. Paula Begoun explained this to me in her book and got me very upset as I had a lot of lousy SPFs.

Spending a LOT of money on a sunscreen is not a great idea, unless money is no object to you. Why? Because you have to wear sunscreen LIBERALLY. I don't know about you, but when I pay a lot for something pretty small, I use it sparingly.

The Neutrogena senscreens will do the job, but Paula does not like them particularly as they do not come loaded with ingredients that are good for your skin.

Suncreens highly recommended by Paula:

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Enhancer (a tinted moisturizer with an SPF of 20).
Kiss My Face Face + Neck 30
Clinique City Block

There were others that are not coming to mind right now. I wouldn't spend a lot of my money on suncreen and if I did, I'd make sure I didn't repeat my mistakes like buying Lorac and Laura Mercier with high SPFs but no UVA/AVB protection.

So which recommendations on here are not broad spectrum?

You've got a good point.

But for some of the recommendations, I couldn't tell so I thought we needed a little cow bell.

I think anything w/ a physical blocker (like zinc oxide or titanium dioxide) are broad spectrum, no?

I only use sunscreens that contain physical blockers and not chemical because I find that my skin is sensitive to the chemical blockers. (My favorite is Clarion's stuff for kids.) The downside is that they can cause a white finish on your skin, which isn't a big deal to me if I'm exercising but is if I'm going to work. So I use the Clinique City Block during the day.

I suppose my point was that there are some really expensive sunscreens out there. Usually when I spend a lot of money on something I use it sparingly, which is not a good idea with sunscreen.
