You don't have to be beautiful. Look at the wives of Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg - they are pretty average looking.

I dated a dot-com millionaire for a while, and I can tell you that some of these IT guys who get rich are super-weird. There is no amount of money that would have made me marry this guy - he was thirty and still a virgin, super awkward, very controlling and porn-addicted. I got the hell out of there.

There are many European men making big bucks working for the World Bank who are married to less than average looking non-white women with minimal education they met while working in 3rd world countries. I know a girl (you know, the slutty look type) who made it her mission to bag a rich guy and broke up a doctor and his doctor girlfriend (she's was brilliant but plain) with great blow jobs and then married him. IMO it depends on the kind of weath the man has. A self made millionaire/billionaire who is flashy with his lifestyle is more likely to also be flashy with his choice in partner. Hence the stereotypical older rich man marrying the trophy wife. A man who comes from generational wealth, "old money" probably has more pressure to marry someone within his socioeconomic class, often within the same circle and someone he may have known or somehow been connected to for a long time. Within that circle, sure it helps to be the pretty, rich woman.

I think these good looking marrying up women may be smarter than people give them credit for, the marriages for the most part seem mutually beneficial between two consenting adults and the woman has found a way out of her poverty. Don't hate the player.
