OP's husband has unrealistic expectations in my opinion. I don't think anything "during season" will make him happy. Maybe going in early May.

OP, do you have children in school or travel dates set in mind?

Yes. There are custody issues involved, so we have 10 days either in late June or early August.

I'm trying to convince him to think beyond the beach. We have loved the beach in October. I have a feeling we will not be all that happy in August.
