Correct. This is hosted by the Ward 4 Education Alliance, which doesn't typically deal with citywide options.

No Shepherd or Lafayette?

I don't normally see people from Lafayette or Shepherd at Ward 4 Education Alliance meetings. It could be because the Ward 3 Education group also includes Wilson feeders.

Wait, so you don't include the largest ES schools in ward 4 because you personally don't know enough parents who have shown up at meetings? That seems pretty short-sited.

-Ward 4 resident.

I live in SP, there are MANY people in the neighborhood that are involved in many other Ward 4 schools. In fact, almost daily there are posters taking about Roosevelt etc. I do think the alliance groups by ward is short sighted (this goes for the ward 3 alliance too). It should be named and practiced via the feeder path.

Like the Ward 3 / Wilson one? I think that makes sense. The Ward 4 one could really be a Roosevelt / Coolidge feeder group.

Yes. Our charter school emailed and was told that this was "public school" only education expo.

Perhaps some of these groups should follow the Ward 2 Education Council - while they are focused on DCPS and improving neighborhood schools, they include Ward 6 and Ward 5 and have even (GASP) included charter schools in their conversations.

I guess they care about education as a big picture vs. this BS backfighting like Ward 3, Ward 4 and CHPSPO.

Yes, I think the name of the alliance groups are misleading and thus could be leaving some folk out of the conversations. For example, living in SP, I don't hear about Ward 3 meetings/initiatives.
