If you've cut off a parent, what do you say to your kids?

I have no words of wisdom OP, but I find myself in the same situation. My mother is not cruel or vicious, but she very openly and persistently favors my sibling. Yes intellectually I understand this is not my fault, but emotionally it's very difficult not to feel unloved or unworthy. I can deal with this as an adult, but I don't want my child to perceive the undercurrents of this relationship, and what I fear even more is that he also becomes the disfavored grandkid. So I have decided to phase her out, even though for many this may seem dramatic. You have a responsibility to create a healthy environment for your children. They will understand your reasons when they grow up
