ISO: King Cake

We shipped one from sucre last year and it was good, but not much better than bayou's IMO, so that's what we're doing this year!

Whole Foods will start having tons of them. I love theirs. You just go to the store and at some point they are stacked up in the bakery.
They have different flavor a - cinnamon, raspberry cheesecake, that kind of thing

When do these come in? I never go to Whole Foods but would make a special trip...

Mardi Gras is early this year, Feb. 9. Better get 'em early, and laissez les bon temps roller !

Randazzo's is the best. We get one shipped to us from there every year, but this year they were sold out through Mardi Gras. We went with Gambino's as a substitute. It was pretty good, not great.

A friend sent us one from Sucre last year and we didn't like it. It was dry and just a completely different kind of animal.

Someone in my office got one from a French bakery and it was sooo good. No colored frosting on top--he lived in France and was totally unfamiliar with the Louisiana style king cake.

+1. When I lived in DC (back in the south now), I always got them from Bayou Bakery.
