What did you wear home after a c-section?

I second - or third - bringing home the hospital panties. Having them for the first week at home was a godsend. I was OK with very stretchy, baggy maternity pants - almost like pajama pant in cut.

OP: Definitely get the mesh panties and extra jumbo sized pads. Those will be essential the first few days home.

But also go to Target in the men's section. Check out the seamless men's work-out boxer briefs. These were LIFESAVERS to me! I bought a couple of pairs to wear in the summer under dresses so that my chubby thighs wouldn't chafe. Well, once I got home, they were the most comfortable thing in the world. They come up high over your tummy so don't hurt your scar and are designed as very soft, comfy jersey type boxers. I swear by them to this day to all pregnant moms!

Bring the sleeping-type nursing bras one size up to allow for engorgement. If you are like me, you will be huge and the nurses will keep telling you about the importance of a good fitting nursing bra. I couldn't figure out why they kept telling me that till I saw the pictures of my mountains peeking up over that size medium nursing bra.

Oh, definitely wear a dress. Try for long and soft and not clingy. Empire waist but not necessarily maternity as long as it fit you at about 6-7 months. And a necklace and some jewelry so at least you feel cuter.

I brought extra mesh panties with me from the hospital and wore them the first couple of days / week. After that wore my regular prepregnancy panties that were so small that they were lower than the incision. On top I wore a pijama - it went way above the incision so was fine.
