back to 17:34. I honestly think my child with cogat 123 would enjoy and do well in our LLIV, because the advance math can be opted out, if it is too challenging. I am not sure if that is an option at a center. And my math strong child, when at a center was put in GE for word study. It was a very strong AAP center with a very strong GE program too, so kids got mixed in together wherever they are at. He got a great education at the center and LLIV. Somehow, I think it works out for these borderline kids and kids strong in one subject.

I posted this in another topic, but I'll repeat it here. The AART at our base school always tells parents to refer if the scores are over 120 and even if they're below 120 but the parents feel strongly that AAP is the right environment for a particular child. Our base school sends a lot of kids to the center and I know they're not all in-pool, so it's worth a shot.

If your kid is immature with regards to test taking skills or simply a slow burner, waiting a little will be the best thing for them.

This is good advice. And a kid who truly belongs there isn't going to fall behind from another year of building maturity in general ed.

I am the PP with the child who scored at 118, and is now in the 8th grade. (was in the second grade at the time).

The problem with the tests are they are a short snapshot of the child.

There are a variety of things that can knock scores down on one day: Illness (even a minor cold), distractions (you got a dod the night before), not understanding the instructions. etc. My DD had a question on the test, but the teacher was prohibited from answering it. She spent the test obsessing about the the question, and was not thinking. The teacher even noted DD's frustrations.
