The Shield had one of the best pilots I've ever seen (after Alias) and had 6 years (or was it seven) of solid story arc that ended in a pitch perfect and haunting finale. Still stays with me. Also loved the finale for Justified - wrapped up the ends well. Other good ones - Angel - "I get the dragon", Treme, Six Feet Under.

I came pretty close to mentioning the Shield finale too.

But I was having trouble thinking of one and wasn't sure if it was just at the top of my head due to another thread that mentioned it on another forum recently.

Some people didn't like the Sons of Anarchy finale but I liked it. And from what I recall the Oz finale wasn't bad.

The Lost finale might've been okay from an episode perspective. But it sure didn't answer a lot of questions from the series or wrap anything up.

If I recall correctly, Seinfeld promised that he wouldn't make the finale a clip episode. So wasn't sure if that was a joke that I ended up pulling on everyone.

I've never watched the Cheers or Cosby show finales. Missed it when they were first on and don't think I've ever seen it on any reruns.

This is the PP of The Shield - if you haven't tried watching Justified - Walton Goggins (Shane from The Shield) is in it. Along with Timothy Olyphant from Deadwood. Great writing and watching Walton Goggins as Boyd Crowder is just a marvel.

I'm loving Luther right now but that might be because I have the biggest crush on Idris Elba.

But here's something funny - I've never watched an episode of Six Feet Under, but did happen to watch the finale for some reason. Even I cried, and I didn't even know all the characters or back stories!

I loved the Dawson's Creek ending

I hated Dexter's ending...so sad after being in love the seasons 1-4. Why I stayed with it, I'll never know.

Yes to The Shield! The series had its ups and downs but was largely excellent. The finale was very well written and the acting by Goggins and Chiklis was some of the best on any screen. Ever.

I also agree that Justified featured great acting and a solid finale.
