Theraplex and Vanicream are two solutions for dry skin/eczema recommended by m DS's pediatrician. They're miraculous. You can get them on-line without a prescription. Good luck.

Cetaphil makes both lotion and a thick creme--the creme was recommended for my friend's daughter's ped for eczema

use California Baby's cream for dry, irritated skin. I think "Calming" is the name they give it. It works very well for my toddler.

PP here. I intended to say that I use it on the baby's face, not just body. And on my face sometimes too!

I used some of my lansinol nipple cream on my baby's face and it works beautifully. Also I knew it was perfectly safe for her!
Now that she is 2 years old, I use aquaphor but she does like to lick any creams off her hands and face anymore!!!

PP here "does NOT like to lick..." obviously!

We were told to try Vaseline or Eucerin on our baby's face. I tried Vaseline since I already had it at home and it worked in just a few hours. I apply it daily and have not had any issues since.

my ped recommended aquaphor (which isn't a lotion; it's more like vaseline). it works like a dream.

hi OP - I use the Johnsons Naturals stick. It is a little stick, kinda like a lip balm, and is very rich. Also, not messy. My baby has chapped cheeks too and I find that this works well.

I have the same problem and have been using a cetaphil cream with good results. I didnt want to just moisture barrier like aquaphor seems to do but actually moiturize. It was recommended by a pediatric dermatologist when my baby had dry skin from a rash when she was just 5 weeks old.

Our ped recommended Aquaphor, or CVS-equivalent.
It doesn't lubricate the skin, but it prevents it drying out, which is the same.
And aquaphor doesn't have phtalates and other bad stuff in it.
The AAP just released a study showing phtalates in lotion end up in kids' urine. phtalates mimic hormones and can impair proper sexual development. It was just in the Wash Post:

Kiehl's baby lotion has worked great for us and the tube lasts forever.

My ped recommended Aquaphor as well -- they even recommended using the CVS version of the stuff. We love it! I use it when my DD has a dry patch and I also use it as a preventative gel when we go out in the cold.

A little gross to apply but the best thing for us has been straight vaseline. Our ped recommended (we thought our son had a rash but actually it was just chapped skin). It takes the red out of those precious cheeks overnight. More gross is when my son gets the jar out himself and applies but he seems to produce better results this way miraculously.

aquaphor worked for us and also desitin clear when my son gets really rashy on neck and cheeks.
