Is wearing red lipstick tacky?

The key is to dab it on with your fingertip and build the color, rather than smother it on via the lipstick tube itself.

Also picking the right red (like cherry red vs an orangey red) is a major factor.

If red lipstick is wrong, then I don't want to be right.

Red is a great option, for everyone, the trick is to find the shade that works for you. Play around with different undertones.

On the right person it is classic. However, if you have thin, crooked, wrinkly lips, it's not very flattering.

No, its not tacky. It looks really great on some people (not on me, though).

A lot has to do with your coloring, I'm olive-skinned, dark/black hair. I look like death with those pink or beige things. I'm wearing more red as I get older to add some color back. But you have to be careful with the shade. It's a lot of trial and error.

No. I'd say quite the opposite.

Of course, it is bright and eye-catching, so if the outfit and/or make up is already a bit busy or colorful, I think a red lip can add up to a "little much." But I think a red lip on a otherwise fairly bare face is a chic option for either day or night.

I agree with you! Pinks and beige lipsticks wash me out, if I use beige lipstick it's the same color as my lips. I'm also olive skinned with dark brown hair.

With red lipstick it really depends on the woman and if she chooses the correct shade of red.

I wear it every day in the fall/winter. Sometimes nothing more than powder and lipstick.

Right out of the tube. Because I found the right type/shade/brand for me.

What brand and shade do you wear?

Those who can, should. It can look slovenly, but what can't?

Trade secret.

Seriously: you have to find what works for you.

Drug store brand though. Major name.

I never wear red lipstick. Only because 1, it looks bad, 2, every man dreams of those big red plastic looking lips sucking their d***.

Natural toned down colors look better.

I wear red lipstick a lot. I have found two that I love that are right for me. I can't wear pinks or nudes and I don't wear a lot of other makeup.

Find what works for you. You can't crowdsource personal style!

I wear it all the time, I have very dark brown hair. I don't wear any other lipstick, just red. All of my cosmetics are higher end brands, except for my lipstick which i get at CVS, it is by l'oreal.

I wear it every day and have about 10 shades. Some are for day and others evening/formal.

Second the pp who said Kate has a lot of rules to follow that don't apply to the rest of us.
