Okay here's the deal...
Racism. It exists. It exists not just in terms of people hating others of a different ethnicity, but it also exists in terms of people in positions of power abusing their authority to oppress those people who they hold such hatred for. It exists. That is a fact. That is the reality of the world in which we live...racism exists and not just in terms of one guy not liking another guy, it exists in terms of some people deliberately seeking to suppress and sabotage entire groups of people and deny them equal rights, opportunity, and success. The problem is - and this thread provides clear cut evidence of the fact - no one wants to talk about the facts. No one wants to talk about the reality. Oh sure people are eager to talk about racism in terms of ideologies and interpretations, people will jump at the opportunity to open their mouths and argue about community and culture and they will throw out statistics left and right and they will gladly talk til they are blue in the face about racism in the broad context...in the non-specific context...in the uncertain and ambiguous context...but when it comes to the reality they don't have shit to say. This is why you have these threads that are 20 and 30 pages long with people bickering back and forth about Trayvon Martin and about Ferguson and about Baltimore and no matter how absurd and unreasonable their argument is they are happy to tout that bullshit because whenever there is a hint of possible inaccuracy in the events and whenever there is a sliver of uncertainty in the circumstances that they can cling to and call things into question they can in their mind deny the fact that racism exists. Yes people love to run their mouths all day and all night about perceived slights and possible misconceptions on DCUM especially when there's even the most minuscule hint of ambiguity - oh folks on here love that they get all wrapped up in their race talk and argue back and forth until they're blue in the face. But in situations like this...in instances like this where there is no doubt, no ambiguity, no uncertainty, no misconception, no misunderstanding...when it comes to stories like this where the FACT of racism, institutional racism, is plain and clear and obvious and inarguable nobody wants to say shit. Everybody's quiet. That's the problem right there. If the only time y'all wanna talk about race is when you have a leg to stand on to argue that it doesn't exist then we'll never work this shit out. If you never want to discuss racism when its plain and evident and proven, if you just want to bury your head in the sand and sing "la la la" like you don't see it and you don't hear it and you just want to deny its existence when its right there in your face then we'll never work this shit out. |
Truth of the matter that there some people who will not think something is racist unless slurs are used or the actor says "I am doing this to you because you are a minority." I have found that a lot of people just do not get (or refuse to) that MOST racism is subtle - that is what makes it more effective. |

Beginning in early 1996, the Dothan Police Department received complaints from black victims that drugs and weapons were being planted. Specifically young black men who had clean records were targeted.
So... Who thinks this shit is an anomaly? Who thinks this shit is an aberration? Who thinks this shit doesn't happen anywhere else in the country and that this is an isolated incident and that there's no way this type of corruption occurs outside Alabama? |
Yeah, bro. Everyone knows no black kills no one. It's the police murdering thousands of folks left and right, their skin painted black in honor of OJ. |
What does that have to do with the matter at hand - that police were planting evidence on young Black men? |
I don't have a problem appreciating the occasional smart ass comment - so long as it somehow relates to the subject at hand - but I gotta admit I'm confused with your (I'm assuming) sarcastic quip... What the hell does blacks killing people have to do with a police department planting evidence on black men, specifically targeting young black men with clean records, resulting in almost 1,000 wrongful convictions and how exactly does OJ fit into the equation? |
Hey bro, did you actually read the OP? Or did you just feel free to add a moronic comment that has nothing to do with the topic at hand? It's amazing how much stupidity you were able to cram into three little sentences. |

It seems like the social and economic lives of black people are studded with land mines.
Two steps forward, shoved back one. The only landscape where there is an even playing field is just that, the playing field. Come on America, too many land mines out there. If black people owe America anything, it has been paid forward of with hundreds of years of slavery. What more can we take from these people? |
Dude, read this thread's title, the latest crime statistics broken down by race, and join me in asking OP to stop the BS. |
| Friggin crickets in this joint. |
Clearly you did not read the linked article. Here it is again... http://henrycountyreport.com/blog/2015/12/01/leaked-documents-reveal-dothan-police-department-planted-drugs-on-young-black-men-for-years-district-attorney-doug-valeska-complicit/ It was about a large number of cops in a police department that routinely planted drugs on innocent civilians, routinely covered up, and who now are in positions of power in state government and elsewhere. You don't see any problem with that? |
Dude bro is apparently A-OK with it. |
