| Yes. I don't respect anyone who could seriously ask this question though. |
| Wasn't Steve Jobs also a college dropout? The original question is asinine. |
|
For me it isn't about respect. I don't respect "celebrities" in general.
A college degree is just a class indicator IMO. I generally assume someone who didn't go to college (and yes, the college does matter, Podunk U doesn't count) is from a less advantaged background. That does not mean that I cannot like and admire someone from such a background. Merely, a college degree is an indicator of how the person was raised and what s/he values or was taught to value. I do think a person should be judged on his/her actions and accomplishments and how s/he treats others. |
The Kamprad family are well known racists and generally wretched people. Look it up. Still respect them? Perhaps it is you who is ridiculous. |
| College degree does not = respect. |
|
You need a degree to pretend on film to be someone else, be a singer, be a fool, be a Kardashian ... ? LOL.
I respect no celebrity. Most are dumb as rocks and their opinions mean nothing. |
|
OK, I'll bite.
Although respect may not be the best description, I have trouble "taking seriously" the child actors that went to Harvard, Yale, etc. Tyra Banks and Natalie Portman...I'm looking at you. |
|
Like Kobe Bryant?
Such a loser. |
| I think actors or musicians who go to college are NOT the norm. Celebrity culture is driven by youth and the younger they get out there the better for their career. |
| The CEO of my company didn't go to college. Should I not respect him? |
|
Most celebrities in the entertainment world didn't go to college. Even some respected news anchors (Peter Jennings is one) didn't go to/graduate from college.
If your job requires a college degree then it's important. For many in the entertainment world it's not critical. |
| It would never occur to me to use a college degree as a measure on how much I respect a person. It's irrelevant. |
| Op it depends on the college? What college did you attend? |
|
When did we start respecting celebrities? Why would we care if they graduated college?
They aren't performing surgery on our children! Odd post |
-no, they are not. But they are directing money-driven politics, giving to super-PACs, dining with the president and other politicians, making political propaganda of one type or another, etc. So there is that. Like, our future as a nation, and all. |
