Worried for my younger sister

What does your sister look like, OP? Does she have nice breasts? Is she in shape?

I just hate to see her miss out.

Miss out on what, exactly? Societal expectations?

Being fully independent.

Love. Falling in love, being in love, and everything that goes with it.

What, exactly, does that mean? Please explain in detail.

Is your family of northern european heritage?

Thin and nerdy. In my heavily biased opinion she's cute, especially when she fixes herself up, but she typically doesn't wear make up or anything like that. Her hair used to be pretty ( really thick and curly), but she cut it all off, so now it mostly stays in braids pinned to her head.

A librarian that's what she looks like, glasses and all.

What is there to explain?

I think it would be sad for her to go through life alone without a partner , and even if she doesn't marry I think it would be sad if she never experienced a boyfriend.

Why would it be sad? Sounds like you truly have no idea what makes her happy. Stop judging her and maybe sit down and talk to her?

That's why I said: societal expectation.

Hope you aren't one of those pushy types who get married and then "worry" their single friends into forced relationships because being married is now the holy grail.

Because at one time she seemed to want those "societal expectations" , and I think she's given up, and I'm worried for her, how she'll feel 10 or 20 years from now if nothing changes.

She just doesn't seem to know how to be an adult woman. Examples :

I'll try my best to explain 9 times out 10 she's wearing, jeans, yoga pants, or overalls t-shirts and hoodies and sneakers. If she veers from that it's hippie skirts and t-shirts. The few times she's tried she's stunning so I don't know why she doesn't do it more often.

For fun she writes stories.

She's kind of a space cadet.

In public she doesn't really talk to people, sometimes stares, and small talk is awkward.

I don't think she'd notice if a man was interested in her.

She wears hats for holidays, last Christmas she wore a light up reindeer headband and on Thanksgiving she had a turkey hat, which the kids loved.

In writing this out it doesn't seem all bad, but all together it just seems immature, and it would be fine if I thought she were happy with it, but I don't think she is. I just think she's given up.
Also our parents are ageing , and I think it's time she's moved out.

This does sound like autism.

Because OP's sister wouldn't be 'weird' in another culture like in Asia or Southern Europe.

OP, you said your sister works in early child hood education. Does she have lots of school debt? Is her staying at home mostly a financial issue?

Do you think she would stay home if she was debt free and making 150k a year?

I think you can only start to see if something is 'wrong' if you answered yes to the 2nd question.

Don't underestimate how much male thirst is out there. If she is thin, that already makes her more attractive than 80% of the women out there.

She probably has no interest in dating or beyond, don't force that. Some people enjoy being single for their entire life.
