How many is too many for a sleepover birthday party?

8 kids is totally manageable. No, they won't sleep. That's just how it is.

Those were the best parties when I was a kid. We routinely had anywhere from 8-12 girls, at least once every two months or so, rotating between my circle of friends. Some great memories!

I also Have a quick question. I am having my daughter have a birthday Party and she wants to invite twelve of her friends. They are all either eleven or twelve and are all in the sixth grade. Is that too much for a sleepover?

TBH, large sleepovers became chaos when I was a kid. I'd recommend no more than 4.

This is in the infant, toddler and preschooler forum.

At that age, I'd want to have 1:1 sleepovers with each kid before I did a group. It's really easy for tears to spread when one kid gets homesick.

But in covid, I wouldn't do sleepovers unless the kid is one you're podding with.

That is on the other parents, not you.

I was the kid who never made it through a sleepover. My parents knew this, so they’d pick me up at 10/11.

If everyone starting crying, then OP calls the parents. It’s not necessarily her fault.

Totally manageable for that age group! Just provide food and drinks and they will take play games and chat and paint nails and whatever.

Whether or not it’s her fault explaining to a 4 year old why her whole
Party left is no fun. Why do that?

OP hasn’t said the age other than by posting in the infant toddler and preschooler forum.

Honestly, at that age and 8 kids, I would do a sleep-under - sleepover type of activities plus pajamas and even sleeping bags if they want but then parents pick them up at 9pm.

Oh, for some reason I thought she said they were 8 years old (in addition to 8 guests)—reading comprehension fail!

No, it is clearly 8 kids for 8th birthday. I vote that it's fine. 8 is doable. What's the worst that could happen?

is 13 girls too many?

8 kids and a bit of chaos > leaving kids out

The 8 year old is now 15 or 16, wonder how that birthday sleepover party went?

I don't feel 8 would be that much harder than 5. Sounds like a fun night and you don't have to do much, kids can watch a movie, play and doughnuts or something easy for breakfast. Have fun!
