Is a onesie an outfit?

Anonymous
You can buy onesies that are more like one-pieces with shorts or pants, if you are concerned.

I've always thought that babies in diapers, onsies, and separate shorts on top of that must have suffered from really warm bums, esp. in the summer time heat and humidity. Reduce the layers.

Always took out kiddo in a one-piece sleeper but never in a onesie.

op you sound lazy. I wouldn't dress my kid like that. No wonder MIL thinks you are weird.

That's cool pp. I am lazy about this! You sound like a complete bitch just FYI.

I remember my HS boyfriend was rather annoyed with those things. They did make access quite difficult.

In CT, we called them "bodysuits" & they were all the rage during the '92-'93 school year.

yeah, I think they were called "bodysuits," but they were teenage onesies ;P But, I had some super cute ones, and of course I could get away with them because I had my adorable 15/16 year old figure at the time. All 95 lbs of me, and of course I didn't appreciate that cute figure at the time. Oh, to be young and cute again! The boyfriend was dumb as a rock, but we had a hell of a lot of fun playtime together.

Babies wear outfits? My summer baby spent the first month of his life in onesies and swaddle blankets!

i think it is fine.

It's not an outfit, but does it matter? It's fine, especially in the height of summer.

My kid wore a onesie every day he was in diapers (birth through 25 months).

I equate it to a undershirt with an added bonus of covering the diaper. Once he was out of onesies we moved to underwear and undershirts.

At home, in warm weather, we might have just had the onesie on him (hey, less laundry!! Woo hoo!!), but I wouldn't have left the house that way anymore than I would have left the house myself in just underwear and a shirt.

That said- you see people in pjs at stores. Sigh.

But...your mil can be as scandalized as she likes. Your kid, your call.

You routinely wear a bib?

It's fine! Particularly in summer months.

Your MIL frankly is the one out of line. Who cares? Why does she need to state her unsolicited opinion?

She probably eats a lot of lobster. Best to be prepared.

I wouldn't take my kid out of the house in just a onesie - that's like wearing just a shirt. But at home? No pants! I had a summer baby.

Op here. I'm always kind of impressed with moms like this. I'm totally lazy about this, AND LO is so squirmy.

Like the above PP I never took DS out in just a onsie. That said I don't think I have ever thought twice about what another baby was wearing...unless it was really cute.

Your MIL either needs to come over and dress your little one, or keep her comments to herself.

+1 I never did it, but I would never blink an eye if another baby was.
