NP here. Hey PP, you're an ass. And an ignorant ass at that. DCPS released round 2 data, DCPCSB didn't even do that. And no one releases the data that OP inquired about. Go away, trolly troll.

P.S. I hope you don't have kids. I don't want to live in a world where you are molding the youth of america.

np here. you pointed a finger, pp. But three point back at you. Mind your own behavior.

What??? Seriously, is this entire board populated by School Within A School parents? Jeez. I lashed out at the poster - I own that. I did it because they were ignorantly rude to a legitimate question. My response was warranted, their's was not. Sometimes in life you say and do things that will get you slapped. That's life.

I'll play. PK4, trying from EOTP PK3 program that we are happy enough with (and stayed at for this year so far). Putting in ranges just to stay somewhat anonymous:

YY: Started 90s, Ended low 50s
Stokes: Started 80s, ended 40s
MVPCS: Started 130s, ended low 30s.
Lee: Started 40s, ended 20s.
ITS: Started 90s, ended 40s.
Two Rivers: Started 80s, ended mid-teens
Creative Minds: Started 90s, ended 50s.

As others have observed, this was a year of expansion for ECE. YY, MV, and TRY all expanded. I hate to be a pessimist but I feel like that may tighten things up next year because (i) additional expansion is unlikely (no new schools, no new buildings) and (ii) now the kids who got in for PK3 and PK4 will be rising PK4 and K next year, with their PK3 siblings getting pulled in with sibling preference.

My advice is similar to others. Don't leave anything off your list because people tell you there's no chance; someone has to win the lottery. But be sure you order your list in the actual order you prefer. We got really lucky that our kid matched at our #1 choice. Lucky because we're thrilled, but also because had schools for #2 and #3 that, on reflection, we did not prefer to #4. That could have ended poorly for us.

Do Your Own Research was an asshole. I'm glad someone else said so and can't believe anyone has a problem with it.

"Breakthrough Montessori Public Charter School, a partnership with Lee Montessori Public Charter School and the National Center for Montessori in the Public Center. The school would focus on human development with an emphasis on prevention programs for troubled children."

That's not screaming HRCS. But I take your point that there's externalities that change the lanscape in a given year so past performance isn't necessarily indicative of future performance.

CMI was going to be a special needs school, and see how that worked out? When it's admission by lottery, anything can happen.

I just googled breakthrough and had to get to the 7th article to see what you (selectively) quoted. I didn't see that in the charter application. Shouldn't all charter schools in DC strive to provide high quality education for at-risk children?

Ranges I recall for my PK4 kid, these are a mix of rounds 1 and 2

Stokes - started in 150s, ended in low 100s
Creative Minds - started 150s, ended 120s
Shepherd - started 80s, ended 50s
Apple tree SW, started in 20s, was accepted
Apple tree LP, started in 40s, was accepted
Tyler - can't remember initial number, but accepted
Two Rivers Young - same as above
Van Ness - same as above
Appletree Columbia Heights - R2 started in 80s, was accepted
Bridges - R2 started 30s/40s ended single digits
JO Wilson - R2 started in 20s, was accepted
Ludlow Taylor - R2 started in 50s, ended in 20s
Cleveland dual - can't remember initial range, ended in 20s
Cleveland regular - R2 started in 20s or 30s, ended Single digits
West - R2 started 50s I think, ended 20s
Others, EL Haynes, Yu Ying, ITS, Two Rivers, DC Bilingual started in the mid/high 100s, probably still in the triple digits

Schools are all over the place because we were moving from out of town and not sure which neighborhood we would be living in.

Relax, Francis. No one is persecuting you or your people. I pulled it out of a blurb from the first google article I found that summarized the schools that applied for charters this year. No one is persecuting your people.

The only one that surprised us was Capital City. We started in the high teens, and ended just below 10. They didn't call anyone off the waitlist until they'd done round 2, which added a big group of kids who bumped down those of us who'd been on the list from round 1 (siblings of older admitted students). Bear in mind that if you apply to a school that goes through the higher grades, older kids with siblings on the list can bump you down at any time. I'd estimate we moved back somewhere around 20+ spots from our original number, which was a bummer.

For PK3:

DCB - started at #41, got to #19
CMI - started at #44, got to #29
ITS - started at #9, got in.

As other posters have said, I don't think you'll see movement like this past year. The new classrooms at CMI and MV had a serious ripple effect.

And you hope "Do your own research" doesn't have kids? Wow, I really hope the "things that will get you slapped" isn't your parenting model.
