| HHI 420k and we are only spending $1500 this year (normally we spend double) we anticipate a job loss after the new year that will slice our income in half. Austerity measures are already in place. |
| About 50-60 a person. The kids (niece, nephew and my son) closer to 100. HHI 135K |
ITA! Adult siblings buying for each other is CRAZY! We do a guy gift exchange and a girl gift exchange, ONE gift. Started last year and we won't ever go back |
| It really doesn't matter what people on the internet spend. Take a look at your personal situation and find a number that is comfortable for you. Kids that little don't care about the $$ amount and shouldn't. |
| I save $200 a month all year so $2400 for Christmas. I usually only spend half and save the rest. No kids, no family. |
| I max my 401k 2 pay checks before end of year. Last two paychecks have about an extra $1300 to fund Christmas. Easy way to do it and I don't even notice the cost. Hhi $300 |

$100 for each set of parents and our son. $50 for both of our siblings. A few random other small gifts for friends/neighbors. Total of $500 or less.
We spend another $3-400 on angel tree gifts, but that's charitable giving more than Christmas spending. |
Hhi is $150 |
| HHI of $150. Four kids. Approximately $1,250 on holiday gifts for the kids. |
| OP here - thanks to all! |

I'm pretty crazy about Christmas and the spirit of giving so I go a little nuts.
We have no children but I usually spend about $100 on my godson. Recently married into 3 nephews and 1 niece, last year spent about $200 including shipping sending their toys. $250 on two sets of parents, usually dinner/movie gift cards $200 between 4 siblings/in-laws Then I usually spend around $200 for wrapping, ribbons, bows, cards and some kind of baking project for aunts/uncles/cousins and fave colleagues (one year I did pies in mini jars, another bread loaves, baileys nips and hot choc in mugs, etc) DH and I went a little crazy for our first married Christmas, also our first physically being together on the holidays so we spent about $500-$750 on each other |
HHI 490K and our budget is usually $1200. |
How much to charity? |
This matters why? MYOB. There is no charity obligation. Doesn't make you a better person if you prioritize charity over doing something nice for family. Different priorities. |
Not PP but we do a few holiday related charity type things (like Toys for Tots and coat/mitten drives) but most of our charitable giving has nothing to do with Christmas. I hope that doesn't make me a worse person than you. |
