Some TSA agents might just decide you have some nerve tryin'a fly with no ID.
Change your flight, for crying out loud. |
|
yup. I've done it. They ask you a bunch of questions. Go an extra half hour or hour early.
But if you have prescription medication with your name on it, bring that. They might take it. |
| p.s. Ignore the people here who say it can't be done. It CAN be done, at least for domestic flights. |
It will not work for international flights as you need a passport. No passport, no flight |
+2 My Indian American Dh was not allowed on our flight back home with our kids and I from California because he lost his Driver's License while there, they had to run a bunch of checks and he got on the next flight back. He also 99% of the time get's pulled for the "random" extra security screening. I'm also Indian American but get much less slack since I'm female. I feel sad for the crap my two sons will have to deal with as they get older. Op- The DMV will send you an electronic copy of your driver's license that you can print and take with you. |
Oh for Pete's sake, I am a white middle aged woman and I routinely get pulled for extra screening--and even did when I was traveling solo with my kids when they were young. |
Note that that worked then because you did not need a passport to return to the US back then. Now you do, even from Canada; so it would not work now. You cannot travel internationally and return to the US without a US passport. |
| Technically you are able to fly without ID if you submit to additional screening (a fuller search pat down etc.) |
Please stop, it's people like you that make white people look so clueless and arrogant. |
| I did it once after losing my ID on vacation. Allow extra time. Bring extra sources of ID like credit card or work Id. |
| If you have a student ID and social security card you might be able to pull it off. Can you push back your flight? |
|
EXTRA TIME is all you need.
Bring anything you think might help. |
Everyone knows this. |
| Yes I've done this, out of both DCA and LGA-- accidentally left my DL at home. Allow extra time at security. Helped that I was with my husband and kids. I am Asian. I showed them a work photo ID (not govt issued) and credit cards. |

Thanks for the advice, everyone. I think I lost the ID at Whole Foods. I've been back but they do not have it. I pulled my ID and my debit card out of my wallet to run a quick errand. When I was paying for the groceries, noticed I didn't have the ID in my pocket.
I am white. I have a birth certificate. I have a SSN card. I do have two other photo IDs: one student and one from work. I have long hair in both and have since cut my hair very short, so I hope that doesn't throw them off. Plus everything else that is typically in my wallet. I am going to give it a try. Though I am intrigued by those who say I can get a printout from the DMV online. I cannot locate this feature anywhere on the DC DMV page. Any more advice on this? Thanks! |
