No id stay home with him. He needs a day at home to recuperate

Same here.

This. It could help his immune system get back on track and hopefully avoid picking something else up.

Yes to the strep possibility. No to taking an iffy 8m old to daycare. 8yo sure, but an 8m old who's not eating normally and crying when s/he coughs is sick - with or without a fever.

I get it. As much as you probably want to go to work (or need to), he's technically been fever free for 24 hours. BUT, put yourself in his shoes. He obviously still doesn't feel good (not eating, coughing/crying). He probably wants to stay home another day. Plus, it'll most likely help him get better faster!

OP here. Thanks for this--as this was my train of thought. I'm assuming that it will be a brutal first winter (virus-wise) for him at daycare and I want to save my sick days for them. We're going to stay in. Thanks all!

Strep just went through my son's daycare. Ds presented with cold symptoms and not wanting to eat/drink but didn't say his throat hurt. No fever. Took him to get tested anyways since it was going around...yup he had strep.

I would stay home if I could over the eating concern.

I always err on the side of caution and keep my kid home. Not just for his sake but for everyone else's. I try to do what I hope others would do. You never know what parent of another kid in the class could be on chemo it there is another person with a weakened immune system. Also, you don't want to start a sick cycle in the class.

No way.

Good! I hope today is all he needs to get back to being himself.

OP-

I would definitely take him to the doctor. Could have an ear infection, strep throat, dehydration, etc. If you are worried about your sick days, take him sooner rather than later so he can get treated ASAP.

Well you definitely suck. Nothing like taking your coughing, crying baby who isn't feeling well and is refusing to eat to daycare.
