Not cheap, the crowds are terrible.

Yes

I would if they are all in 2nd Grade or younger. After that it becomes a bit more difficult to be away without a really compelling reason.

School moves sooooo slowly in the younger grades for even average students that I can't fathom a second grader being "stressed" from having to catch up.

We took my child out of school to go to India and again for China. Would probably do it for Disney.

Get the homework from teacher and make sure you do it.

Yup, we did when the kids were in 2nd and kindergarten.

Yes. I have for the last 4 years. Life is short. Enjoy life and save money at the same time.

I have taken my children out of school for the past several years and will do it again next year (last week in May). If possible, schedule it for close to a break because the pace naturally slows down a bit.

If you let the teacher know ahead of time, he/she might provide a packet for you.

Our school will not give you a packet beforehand and kids are expected to have the work completed when they return or take no grade. Anticipated tests are taken before they leave on on the first day back. I think it's wrong to expect a teacher to project the class pace and arrange special work to allow for someone's vacation. If I took my kids out for any reason I would not ask for any accommodations.

NO. School is the priority. Especially not Disney.

No because I think school is more important than Disney.

Absolutely, as long as the kids are doing well in school and their numbers of absences to date are low enough that adding the vacation won't cause problems.

We took the kids out of school for around a week most years; some years were Disney vacations, other years were other locations or other reason. For our kids, this was possible through the high school years with no adverse impact on their academics, but it's really a balance of what's right for an individual family's kids.

I would pull out 1-2 days to add to a long weekend. FCPS has several of these weekends throughout the year. We recently went to Universal for a 4 day Columbus Day weekend and missed no school and had relatively low crowds. Last yr, my kindergarten child missed 2 days of school for Disney.

I would not pull out for 1 full week for Disney. My oldest child is only in 1st grade. We are missing 1 day of school for a Disney cruise this year. That is the only day our child will miss for vacations.

My kids missed a week every year in elementary school for various vacations. It was all good.

So yes, I'd do it.

Yes, we do an plan to every year until oldest goes to middle school. No question.
