+1 It would be different if the movie were showing during a burial service. Congressional is a really neat place -- where very few would ever go if they didn't allow dogs and movies and such. How is it more respectful to let the place crumble and fill with drug dealers? I'm only sorry that we don't get there as much as we used to now that our dog is elderly. |
OK, so to recap: the only two options for an urban cemetery are prostitution and drug sales, OR, having a bunch of dogs running around every day and taking a shit on the final resting place of loved ones. No middle ground, like, say, a tall fence, regular lawn mowing, and motion cameras that feed to MPD. |
Who pays for this? |
Okay, choose between a beautiful cemetery that no one ever goes to except on holidays to put flowers on graves and a beautiful cemetery where people enjoy it at all times of the year for many reasons. I'll take the latter gladly. By the way, when I took my dog there I had to volunteer to keep a certain area of the cemetery clean of trash. I chose the area around Leonard Matlovich's grave. Matlovich came out of the closet in the 70s(!) and was famously kicked out of the military. I remembered him well. And I was surprised to find out he was buried in Congressional. I was always happy to pass by his grave and keep it tidy out of the great respect I had for his courage. And yes I had my dog with me. Not impossible to walk your dog and show respect for the dead. |

When do the goats come back?

And how should we keep the birds - with their droppings - off of the grounds and out of the airspace? |
| It must be popular, people are dying to get in there. |
That stuff costs money, dumbass. The dog walking program is a huge portion of the Cemetery's budget. |
| I think it is gross to let dogs pee and shit on people's gravestones. Bushes, trees? Fine. |
I cannot wrap my mind around people being OK with dogs defecating and urinating on someone's grave as a regular course of events. |
Its still disrespectful regardless. |
Again, its still disrespectful regardless. |
| I'm wondering how the OP knew that everybody at the cemetery watching the movie was a "gentrifier". Did the OP ask everybody their address, income, and when they moved in? |
I am sad to have missed the goats. |
