Recommendations and/or warning for counter depth fridges?

OP here. thanks for all the replies! Given the comments about ice/water dispensers, I took a look at the ones without but most of them only have 20-22 cubic ft, while the LG and Kenmore elite have the dispenser in the door and 24 cubic ft. The water/ice does NOT take up space inside the fridge because the ice/etc is contained in door. In thinking about it I like the idea of getting the filter on the sink facet but it doesn't make sense to lose space and not have the water/ice in door. Ugh! Does anyone know of a counter depth that does not have ice/water in door AND has 24 or more cubic ft of storage? Also, for those of you that got filtered water on your sink faucet, what did you get? Thanks!

I have a waterstone faucet and filter system. It was pricey but it's American made and looks great. I would take a look at Subzero. Ours has an ice tray in the freezer and no water in the door.

OP be sure to confirm that the cubic feet measurements reflect space after the ice maker is added in. I remember reading somewhere that the cubic feet measurements merely represent the internal measurements of the fridge box, but don't take into account lost space from drawers, shelves, filters, ice makers etc.

Thanks PP. Consumer Reports (yes, I know) does list the "usable square footage" vs advertised square footage.

Yes, you definitely give up space with a counter depth, but on the plus side everything is very accessible. I feel like I only have room for the good things, and no longer lose weeks old leftovers in the way back. There is no way back anymore.

We have the side-to-side for 5 years now without issue. I do wish we got the bottom freezer version - the freezer on the left side is too narrow to fit a big pizza box.

I think we got this LG model (or at least the version of it they were selling 2 years ago). We have been happy with it, and I agree with the poster who said things are more accessible so we lose less things in the back. You probably know that Kenmore doesn't make it's own appliances, so I am pretty sure the Kenmore that is close in features to the LG is also made by LG-- the difference is probably just in who would service it if something goes wrong.
