OP here. thanks for all the replies! Given the comments about ice/water dispensers, I took a look at the ones without but most of them only have 20-22 cubic ft, while the LG and Kenmore elite have the dispenser in the door and 24 cubic ft. The water/ice does NOT take up space inside the fridge because the ice/etc is contained in door. In thinking about it I like the idea of getting the filter on the sink facet but it doesn't make sense to lose space and not have the water/ice in door. Ugh! Does anyone know of a counter depth that does not have ice/water in door AND has 24 or more cubic ft of storage? Also, for those of you that got filtered water on your sink faucet, what did you get? Thanks!
I think we got this LG model (or at least the version of it they were selling 2 years ago). We have been happy with it, and I agree with the poster who said things are more accessible so we lose less things in the back. You probably know that Kenmore doesn't make it's own appliances, so I am pretty sure the Kenmore that is close in features to the LG is also made by LG-- the difference is probably just in who would service it if something goes wrong.
