We live in City of Fairfax. DS is 6. I firmly believe that by the time he heads to FHS, it will no longer be the Rebels. Woodson is the Cavaliers, another Confederate reference, that doesn't bother you too?


They could just change their mascot to James Dean and still be Rebels.


HA! Dh & I joke that they could just tack on "Alliance" at the end and change the mascot to an X-wing fighter..

I have actually never heard anyone complain about Fairfax HS that actually has kids there, or has had kids there. I think it's one of those good, reliable schools that is middle of the pack in a very good school district. Woodson is generally near the top, but Woodson also gets criticism for being a real pressure cooker. Not sure I'd want that for my kid. When we lived in FFX, we were zoned for FCHS and I wasn't crazy about that, so we moved. But I would have not seen Fairfax HS as a reason to move out.
