Special school, last stop, etc? Sorry your child is dealing with that. |
The buses are getting to the school later. We're a tier 1. |
All it indicates is when your school day starts and stops, and has to do with staggering bus schedules in a district with 100,000+ kids. So, we're Tier 2, which means school starts at 9:10 and lets out at 3:50. |
| Tier 1 schools start at 9 and get out at 3:25 |
I might give it another week to see if it stays that way. This first week has been all right at our Tier 1 school, but last year the first week was a mess at the end of the day with buses showing up very late. The special ed buses were mostly OK but school ended at 3:05 and we were still putting general ed kids on the bus at 3:30--the poor secretary was fielding calls from parents wanting to know where the heck their kid was and having to tell them the bus was still loading at the school. It was a trickle-down problem with one of the routes at the middle school that eventually got smoothed out. |
Doesn't tier 2 start at 9:25? That's when our ES starts. Afternoon bell rings at 3:50. I've been picking up at school but the bus arrives around 4:15/4:20 |
|
Our Tier 2 school bus has been getting to the school late in the afternoons because it is coming from dropping off a Tier 1 elementary. So the kids don't have a bus to get on yet when school ends at 3:50.
Another bus going to our school has the kids arriving late every morning for the same reason. The system needs to be changed! |
| We are tier 1- so 9am start, 3.25pm finish. We live a mile from the school and my DD gets off the afternoon bus between 3.50pm and 4pm depending on traffic |
Tier 2 special program on the last stop. We're not complaining because we'll never have to get up early than we do now even for high school. We're not morning people. And DC loves riding the bus. |

4:30
ridiculous Btw dinner and any after school activities, kids are exhausted. |
Thanks. I've noticed the neighborhood MS kids get dropped off at 3:30, so it's definitely an issue with that route (assuming it's the same bus or another bus with similar timings). I'll see how things go this week. It's not the end of the world, but I wish it wasn't so much wasted time. If they were in the classroom and learning for another 30min it would be okay. The idea that they are probably just lined up and waiting for at least 30minutes is frustrating. |
| We finish at 3:25 and my kids get home at 4:00. It's an outage. I bet they have better service in the W clusters. |
|
Just stating a time means very little. You need to provide your Tier. (And indicate if child is at home school, HGC, Immersion, or other non-home school.)
|
OP here. We get out at 3:25 too and kids got home around 4:20/4:25. The neighborhood MSers arrived around 3:30. Hoping things are better soon. |
| Wow!! Our ES ends at 3:25 were the second stop so kids get here at 3:50. |
