| I thought Blair magnet kids took English and SS with the neighborhood kids? |
| Isn't the CAP magnet open to only kids from the DCC? So, wouldn't a good number of them be Blair students even without the magnet? And those who wouldn't be Blair students automatically, would be Northwood, Einstein, Kennedy, Wheaton students, right? Do their test scores, etc suddenly not count because they are in the magnet? |
Of course they do, though typically honors level courses. And CAP kids are in the same math and science classes as everyone else. PP was making stuff up again as always. |
We are not zoned for PBES, but our kids attend a well-regarded school nearby. Our school's scores dropped the last year of MSA, because the school administration made it a point to not make a big deal of the tests. We all knew it was being phased out, nobody wanted the kids to be stressed about it, Starr had made it clear he didn't even want kids taking it, so there was not much test prep going on. Same community, same teachers and administration as the year before, but lower scores. And the sky didn't fall. |
| The magnet kids at Blair are typically in either honors or AP for English/history. CAP kids have their own English/history but regular math/science |
Because it's often the reason? |

Why does pointing out facts about Blair get you labeled a troll if they are negative?
|
It doesn't. 1. The "facts" aren't actually facts. 2. What gets you labeled as a troll is a post containing specific non-factual "facts" and an obsession with the Twitter account of the principal of Blair HS. |
You are wrong, because of magnet obligations the few holes in their schudgle is most often filled by strategically timed honors classes that are filled entirely with other magnet kids. Most don't see non-program kids until the elective heavy years and even then it is a few of the brightest. Most kids at Blair never ride a bus or take a class with with the magnet kids- fact |
|
This, others are spouting off about abstract possibilities. While it is true a few non magnate kids can take a magnate class and a few classes get a sprinkling of magnet kids the overlap is very spare and the exception not the rule. Even the places the over lap happens is rare and not the type of classes most kids take.
most non-Asian brown kids will never share a class with the "special" kids. The only thing left to argue about if it was planed like that or an accident. |
See, that's exactly what I mean about facts vs. "facts". Everybody knows that the magnate kids are at Whitman and Churchill, not Blair. |
| The magnet kids are at Blair. If you were really informed you would know that although Whitman and Churchill are good schools, it's no comparison to these kids. |
You are a bit slow on the uptake there. Re-read the prior post, and maybe you will get the joke. |
No, there are many, many very well-educated people in Takoma Park who send their kids to the public schools and think the schools are good. For the other poster - Langley Park is part of PG and doesn't impact Takoma schools. Regardless, most of the people I know in TP value diversity - racial, economic, etc. - and don't have a problem with diverse schools. |
