Do you know what lol means?

They must be laughing at themselves for being a director in a medium sized company and making so little.

I just this past weekend booked flights from Upstate NY to Maui for January.
My SO doesn't like long flights so we decided to stay a couple of days in LA both going out & coming back. She also strongly suggested we fly first class.
Round trip to LA, first class, was $1300. Seemed "reasonable" so I booked it. Didn't check the coach rate.
Round trip, LA to Maui 1st class, was $1400. Coach was $388. It's a 5 hour flight. I booked the coach tickets.
I just couldn't justify the up charge.
HHI last year was $800k. No kids, no bills.

Yes but the bank or IMF pay for that..... It's not personal travel.

Btw, the prices I quoted are per each ticket, not total for two.
Still didn't seem too bad though.

I wouldn't pay for it out of pocket personally, but will upgrade with points.

I am having trouble understanding why it was worth it for the 5 hour flight to LA but not the 5 hour flight to Hawaii. No criticism, just looking for what I missed.

It's 7.5 hours, in the air, to LAX from Upstate NY for our flight. Five hours LAX to Maui.
You're right that it's not a huge difference, but it seemed, at that moment at least to me, like too much of a premium.
