I don't think the poster to whom you referred has a "size" issue -- it sounds like she has a bust. As a size 6 with the same issue, I have found several nice things there, though some things I have tried are boxy. And for petites, they have a better selection of pants (many of which are not "matronly") than most places. For example, J.Crew doesn't make a lot of their pants in petite sizes and almost never has them in the store so you can actually try them on. To answer the OPs actual question (rather than slamming her taste like so many responders), the clothes run big. As a size 6 (even with a bust), I wear an XS in their tops. |
| i'd have too agree with all pp saying they're boxy and run a bit large. i'm plus size and was excited at the idea of finding clothes that doon't make me look dowdy. the designs sseemed young and hip, but aside from a great cardigan and a coat, everything else i bought from j jill was one way or the other disappointing. so i stopped shopping there. |
| I agree -- the quality seems to have gone downhill. |

I shop there all the time! And I'm far from dumpy or dowdy.
I think their style is very simple and elegant but I do think you have to know how to accessorize. As to the sizing - definitely a bit on the large size as the generic sizing goes (s,m, l, etc) but the fitted items like jeans and pants/skirt/dresses that come in misses sizes are a great fit. |

JJill works on people who are on the extremes--thin or overweight. The clothes look great on the models because they are thin (normal size 2-4) or larger women who look best with loose-ish clothing.
If price is not an issue, I would try Eileen Fisher. Her fabrics are gorgeous, but you do have to try different outfits to avoid the tent-look. |
| For larger, size 12 and up, apple shapes. Otherwise, stay away-- |
