What's a Good Late Night Snack?

Anonymous
Every once in awhile I wake up at night hungry and it's on days when I did not eat enough for whatever reason. I usually get a cookie and go back to bed.

1/2 cup of premium ice cream is maybe 230 calories. Some ice cream might be lower.

Deli meat can be 1/2-1 oz per slice. So that could have been 90-180 calories for the turkey. The broccoli is about 50 cal/serving without the butter sauce. And you had a couple.

You might have ended up consuming more calories with your "healthier" shack.

She actually knows which brand of ham she ate and checked it.

You seem dumb.

Blueberries. Watermelon. Herbal tea. Pretzel sticks work for me because I don't really like them, so after a few I want to stop eating them and have satisfied my desire for salty crunch. Roasted Brussels sprouts (seriously).

A bowl of cereal with 1% milk

A glass of chocolate milk... again 1%

How late is this, though? I consider a late night snack maybe 9 pm. I won't eat later than that. I go to bed at 11:30.

If you're truly hungry at midnight (and not just peckish), then have a slice of cheese or the ham. You could also wait for the hunger to go away. I find this happens faster at night than middle of the day.

But maybe you didn't eat enough for dinner?

Go to bed.

Your body signals hunger as part of an attempt to stay awake when it really needs rest. You don't need calories, you need sleep.
