GDS -- any Waitlist movement?

PP: Grades?

Dont forget that a few of these schools seem to waitlist practically everyone who isn't accepted so that even if a spot opens up that doesn't mean that you are going to get it. Having had a child on 2 waitlists last year (GDS and Maret) I'd say it is best to move on.

16:43 I find that practice really annoying. Did Maret send you a handwritten note? I only learned about this charming touch a year later. (Obviously we did not get one.)

oh yes, we got the handwritten note. makes no difference in the end.

Though might it have had the gone to the waitlist? That's what I understand. I hope it worked out for you and yours. It did for us.

This was in response to 17:02, who'd written that she'd received handwritten note with the waitlist notification from Maret. This is supposed to be the sign of genuinely being on the Maret waitlist. (Maybe you don't know about this charming practice?) The poster wrote that it didn't help. I wrote though it might have if they'd gone to the waitlist -- meaning that her DC was on the genuine waitlist. Maret apparently waitlists almost everyone, the truly waitlisted get a personal note, the truly rejection get a form letter that makes it seem like they really want your child. Is that clear now?

Maybe not "almost everyone." I don't know anyone who's been rejected from Maret. Just waitlisted. (Or accepted!)

Yes, thanks!

I find the practice unfortunate. It plays with people's heads, including the children's. They should consider dispensing with it.

I mean the two-tiered waitlist practice.

Other point being you can't say it didn't matter just because you didn't ultimately get in.
