Wish I married a rich man

I make more money than he does and take on the bulk of the responsibilities in raising our son, and it can be really stressful, overwhelming and hard sometimes. But I knew who he was when we got married, and didn't marry him on the condition that he would change and suddenly become a big earner. He is the most loving, kind and supportive man I have ever met, and that's why I married him.

He needs to be the woman and stay home

My husband makes enough money (not rich) for me to stay at home (around 450k), but I don't want to. I have a six figure job with a flexible commute (7:30 to 3:30), I like what I do and it does wonders for me as a Mom and a Wife. There's no such thing as a free lunch, if you marry a rich man and stay and home, there will be expectations to keep the house running great, keep yourself thin and beautiful and everything related to kids is kept perfect. No rich man is going to let you stay at home and be a slob, that's just not how life works. Enjoy what you have, a good companionship is priceless.

The skewed reality on this board never ceases to amaze me. $450K might not be private-island rich, but it's literally the top one percent.

TRUTH!

If your husband makes $450K and you aren't rich you are doing something seriously wrong.

Everyone thinks that they're middle class, and "rich" is someone who makes $1 more than them.

I also have a pretty cushy six figure job but my husband doesn't make anywhere NEAR $450K. I often wonder how much he would need to make in order for me to stay home. I probably would do it if he made that much. he would need to have a lot of job security and the ability to keep earning like that indefinitely for me to quit. I'm an attorney and its really hard to get back into the game once you leave.

If you honestly believe this troll about the $450K, well then, you're more demented than most of the people spending their time on this site!

The OP sounds like she could be my wife, but then I just realized what time it is and I know that she's probably still sleeping, so it's most-likely not her! ROTFLMFAO!

450k Depends on what part of the country you are in.

I you live in close in DC Suburbs or a few other metropolitan areas around the country 450k is comparable to 100k in a good chunk of the res of the country.

Watch house hunters and watch people complain about pay $235k for 6,000 sf house. Then price match that in DC area.

Oh god. For real? There are some of us (gasp) here in the DC area who are actually living off 100K.

If my dh made $450k, you wouldn't catch me at work ever again. At least nut until the kids were grown and gone.

This did not occur to you before you got married?

I never sought a wealthy man but I definitely did not date men who were underemployed. I only dated professional men who could support a family. Plus I find educated, successful, responsible men much more attractive.
