Reserved seats at the cinema. Who else hates it?

Stadium seating and reserved seats - both make going to the movies worth it. I could do without 3D everything though.

Love it. Makes everything so much easier. I just buy them on my phone beforehand. Now we don't have to race for movies and sit and wait with the kids.

But 3-D sucks. I have vision problems that make those glasses impossible. My kids hate it too, thankfully. We only see the 2-D versions.

Who calls it "the cinema"?

Love it! My only complaint is that to reserve/buy online, our local theater charges an extra dollar or $1.50 per ticket, and I don't like paying that. If I'm out and about earlier in the day, I'll swing by the theater to pick up the tickets to avoid that (we live close to the theater). Small amount, I know, but I just hate paying fees.

Courthouse is our neighborhood theater and we are actually bummed when the movie we want is only playing in Ballston which has traditional seating.

Exactly what is going on in theaters that you find so offensive that you have to move.

To me the most annoying thing was dealing with feet. People accidentally, repeatedly kicking your chair, or feet from behind peeking through the seats. None of this happens now b/c even when reclining your neighbors feet is very far from your seat.

If you have the AMC Theatres stubs card, you can avoid the fees. I think it is Regal that charges extra, which I agree, stinks.

To the OP - I thought it was only IMAX that was reserved seating at Tyson's. AMC Courthouse has it as well. AMC Potomac Mills does not except for IMAX.

For the record, I love it. I believe iPic also does reserved seating.

Buy tix online, pick seats, and then no need to print tickets at the theater at those broken-down fandango kiosks because they can just scan the barcode on your phone. Very civilized.

I love it at Courthouse but that's because it goes along with having the amazing reclining seats. But, we also know we often can't see a movie there at the last minute. I don't want to have to reserve seats when the theater is otherwise standard blah movie seats.

and when someone is sitting in your ASSIGNED seats and refuses to move?

We had to take other seats b/c of that. I wasn't about to argue in a dark theater in front of my 11 yo.

This practice is ridiculous, IMO.

If they don't move you can call security.

This is the best thing ever, get used to it

If the people are still too stupid to move, the employees will call the cops and probably turn the movie off in the process.

If someone refuses to move out of your assigned seats, you go get the usher. I would not never just let some jerk sit in the seats I had previously reserved. That's part of the ushers' job.

It used to be only IMAX at Tysons, but they went to all reserved about a year ago.
