There are expensive fake plants that do a credible job of emulating real plants. Look online. The cheesiest part of a fake flower is the stem, then the leaves. If the plant can be situated in such a way as to hide or camouflage these parts - or if it's far enough away that no one will be up close and personal - you could probably get away with a fake.
