how big was your 42-weeker?

Does the baby feel bigger than your first?

My first was just over 9lb, my second was just under 12lb. Both were born at 39 weeks.

Chances are this baby will be bigger BUT it doesn't necessarily make any discernible difference to you. My second delivery was faster and easier than my first, and I didn't tear with either of them.

My 39 week delivery (exactly because I did an IUI) yielded a 9lb 11oz baby. I can't even imagine how big he would have been at 42 weeks.

41 weeks.
10 lbs, 2 oz.

Less anecdotal, but not a real study. This person has been collecting data online and has over 8000 responses. http://spacefem.com/pregnant/charts/duedate8.php

The chart gives you a sense of the associated variance (which is huge), but overall the average weight does go up somewhat for late term babies. For 42 days on the nose, it's 8 pounds 4 ounces.

I'd encourage folks to submit your own stats. It's nice to have an additional resource we can look to for data on these things our bodies are doing. I get kind of tired of reading through long lists of comments when there should just exist publicly available data sets that have averages and standard deviations so we have some idea what to expect.

I would think the weight of your first two is more relevant here than the weights of other 42-weekers-- was your second bigger than your first? My second baby was heavier than my first, even though she was born at 39 weeks and my first was born at 41. How far along are you now?

If you've delivered two 9 lbers already, another pound won't make a difference. Hopefully baby would be longer, so it's all proportionate.
