| My neighbor has one of these trees and I hate it - but there isn't much you can do besides trim what is on your side. |
| We had one of these when we moved in and they are horrible. In addition to the berries making a mess and staining, they attracted ton of bugs. Personally I would offer to pay to have the tree taken down so that I could enjoy my property. In DC you don't even need a permit because mulberry trees are considered to be a nuisance. |
| birds eat them and shit everywhere that color |
| We had this same problem and the berries were actually staining put stone patio area. There wasn't mych hanging on our side but with wind and rain they went everywhere. Our neighbors yard was completely unkept and they did zero upkeep. We asked them about it and they didn't care do we paid to get it removed. It was disgusting and our yard was so much nicer with it gone. The squished berries also attracted a lot of flies which made our whole yard gross. Do they care? Maybe you could offer to remove it. |
Wrong. |
How about not posting snarky responses if you don't know what you're talking about? (I don't believe anyone who has a mulberry tree would suggest not walking on the berries. In my neighborhood they cover the sidewalk for 10 feet on either side of the tree.) |
| Our cherry tree is raining berries all over our deck the last couple of weeks. It looks like there are still plenty more up there. This is way more than previous years. I have to sweep them daily, and we basically can't use the deck until it's all over. Our dog also eats them! |
| I'm having the same problem..... And I find it absolutely ridiculous that the property owner has no responsibility to maintain the trees on their lot!! I am going to trim it back, or pay someone to do so, and might even have them kill it on purpose!!! Screw all of you who think otherwise.... |
Just poor half a bottle of bleach by the root ball and then sue them in the fal to remove the dead tree. Problem solved for less than 5 dollars |
In the immortal words of Dr. Phil, it is what it is. Your neighbor is not responsible for trimming back the tree branches on your side. You have to do that. And no, you can't kill the trees in the process, or he can sue you. I dealt with that for 15 years, and I spent 1-2k each year getting rid of the debris that fell on my yard. On the other hand, the neighbors were an older couple who kept a very low profile, which I appreciated. Look on the bright side - if one of your trees falls on your neighbor's property (through no fault on your part), then the part of the tree on his side is his responsibility. Does that make any sense? No, not really - but it is what it is. |
Says who or what law? At least in VA you have the right to chop off any part of the tree on your property. What's the law in DC? |
| OP tell your little runts to take their shoes off when they enter the house. Problem solved! |
| But but.. Trees soak up co2. Cutting them down will turn the earth into a literal fireball . |
| Two of my neighbors are at war over a mulberry. Neighbor 1, a gardening enthusiast, is obsessed with the mulberry. Wants it removed, has even called the health department on Neighbor 2, on the grounds that it attracts rats. No dice. Now she's warning me to "watch out" for the Mulberry. I guess it will encroach? Cross the border? |
A conspiracy between the Mulberry and bamboo may be afoot. |
