| Well, there is the disney show, Good Luck Charlie, about a little girl named Charlotte, but they called her Charlie. You'll get a lot of references to that. |
You know the new princess is named Charlotte, right? It's already popular and is clearly going to get much more popular in the next few years. It's perfectly fine to give your kid a popular name but you can't really claim you didn't see that one coming... |
| Don't know any Charlies, but I think it's a cute name for a girl along the lines of Frankie, Sammie, Andie, etc. Go for it! |
|
I know of three Charlottes, all about 8 - 10. All go by Charlotte.
I know one young Charles called Charlie who is 6. |
| none. |
| One. She's awesome. |
I'm asking about the nickname. The princess and it cracking the SSA top 10 is what has plunged me into indecision. I'm aware Charlotte is popular. But its a family name that I've always wanted to use. |
Then use it! Just don't claim you had no idea it was popular. With an increasing number of Charlottes, of course there will be more girls going by all the various nicknames. |
If you like Charlotte, then use Charlotte! Not using a name just because it's fashionable is just as silly as using a name just because it's fashionable, in my opinion. |

I think Charlie or Char for a nickname is adorable. I had a great aunt named Charlotte and she went by Lottie, which is another option.
I had a coworker named Charlie, she was in her early 20's. |
| My daughter is a Charlotte, old enough not to be in the super popular name bracket. Her friends call her "Char." It's such a long name I think you will find many girls going by one of the common nicknames and Charlie is definitely a common nickname for Charlotte. |
| I know one Charlie. Her real name is Charlotte. Not my favorite name, would prefer Lottie. |
| I have a DS named Charlie and I had a woman at a children's store once tell me how much she loved the name, but since she didn't have a girl she couldn't use it. Aside from being confused, I became aware of how Charlie for a girl (and boys perhaps too!) is trending. At the same time, I have only met one little girl named Charlie. LOTS of little boys named Charlie though... |
| I know 4 baby Charlotte's born in the last yr. I don't believe any of them go by Charlie, but I considered doing it for my dd. Love it. |
| I know three babies/toddlers all under 3 who are named Charlotte and go by Charlie (though one spells it Charley). My DD is named Charlotte, also a family name I always wanted to use and decided to still just go ahead use, despite the increasing popularity. We thought we'd call her Charlie some but we use another- homegrown- nickname that just kind of happened organically. |
