Safe neighborhoods in Dallas

About the same distance from downtown as the M Streets, but on the same side of 75 as Highland Park. If you're in a nanny share in Highland Park, not having to cross 75 at rush hour would be a very good thing. There's also a neighborhood with duplexes north of Northwest Highway, near Hillcrest HIgh School. There are also some townhouses just south of Northpark Mall.

Here's a duplex that's convenient to Highland Park:

This is one bedroom, but it's typical of the nice older duplexes in the area between Knox and Fitzhugh:

I think the nicer ones rent pretty quickly, so you'll have to keep your eye open.

Highland Park / University Park are known for school systems. There are Condo/town homes there - basically because thd SMU population demands it. A little known area which is next to HP is Bluffview. It was rediscovered and remodeled, beautiful landscaping, mature trees, well to do, good downtown access.

Some things of which you will want to be aware: 75 (central) is a parking lot. Don't live anywhere 75 will be any part of your commute. Look at school systems. School ratings closely align with the quality of the neighborhood. Good schools = good neighborhood. It's just the way it is in Dallas. Trees. It's hot hot hot, so consider shade and access to swimming. Also at a minimum if you're considering a condo, get covered parking. There are no basements. So either get rid of stuff or rent a storage unit. Public transportation sucks. People drive to get everywhere. On the bright side, you can get anywhere from DFW. Lastly, Austin is only 3 1/2 hours and it's a lot of fun, nice funky arts scene, walkable, fun. Finally Dallas is great for fine dining and shopping.....in abundance. There's a lot of nice people there.

Definitely reccommend Uptown or Knox Henderson, or Highland Park if you can afford it.
