We have the wee hoo and love it - my son will be 8 this summer and we still use it. Have had it for four years; it has held up very well. Well worth the price IMO. Do you belong to REI? If you buy it there it gives you REI points or whatever. If you're not members it might be worth investigating for this size purchase. Happy biking!

If your DS is 8 and still hasn't learned to ride, I highly recommend the I Can Bike program http://icanshine.org/. Two of my three kids (with SN) learned to ride in their camps and I can't praise it highly enough.
