Great Harvest bread yay or nay?

Weirdly pale crust on the challah. And it's annoying to have to order chocolate chip ahead of time. And yes, it's too expensive.

OP here I thought it was lical until I went online and saw it was a franchise. Yuck waste of $10!

OMG, seriously? I just bought bread from them for the first time.

Oh well, I'm done with them. Will now have to go to my usual spot that is 5 miles out of my way.

Yeah, their bread is bad. Not at all tasty, and borderline criminal for how much they charge.

Spring Mill Bakery is great for sandwich-y type loaves, or Bread&Water Company (at OT Farmer's Market or their store).

Yeah... Seems they are a franchise that tries to pass themselves off as "local" bakeries. They are local the way you neighborhood McDonalds is local because it's in your town. Very gross to be taking farmers market spots that could go to local/small vendors who could really use the extra business if they don't have a storefront.

Look. I'm going to pipe in here and say yes- they are a chain, and yes sometimes I'm irritated when they try to sell me day old bread( I always ask and they are truthful at my location )

But- their community outreach and support is outstanding. When my DDs were in school they did tours for them and taught them a lot. They donated sizable donations to our silent auctions.

And PP above- it molds quicker because it doesn't have all the preservatives

Chickfila does a lot of community outreach and donations. They are always at events giving out food coupons. Still don't want to see them at a farmers market!

Then complain to the people who run it- why do they allow it?

Yup. It's the organizers. The farmers market in my community is producers only. It's strictly enforced.
