Whole Foods chicken breasts haven't been great lately. I haven't seen tendons, but they are slimy out of the package and don't taste like they used to taste. |
They sell third party air chilled that has always been good for us |
| The "tendons" that you describe sounds like woody breast disease, which isn't really a disease, but more of a quality issue where the breast meat gets a hard/fibrous texture due to the rapid growth rate of commercially bred chickens. This is something that is happening all over the country and is affecting chicken in every retailer. Free range or organic chickens are less likely to be affected. |

NP- I've been disappointed by Wegman's chicken breast quality lately too.
Costco has been better, especially considering the price difference. |
|
Chicken breasts have become inedible, no matter where you buy them.
If people stopped buying them en masse, the producers would be forced to bring back quality meat. We're paying more than ever for chicken breasts, and the quality is the poorest it has ever been. |
| This thread is 8 years old, looks like they still have an issue! |
+1 I have stopped buying them completely. |
These have been the only fail-proof ones we've used. Balduccis sells it too. |
| Why do you people keep reviving these old af threads?? |
| I love Wegmans. But their meat is not good. |
Yes, you have to buy the organic chicken in the 'shrink-wrapped' package. It's always great quality. But it's not cheap! |
| Wegmans has definitely gone downhill in the past couple of years. |
Agree. |
| I'm sorry, but shopping for meat at aweans is no better than like a Shoppers, Safeway or Giant. I buy all my meat organic from either Whole Foods, a farmer's market vendor, or a local butcher in my area. You should really research your options and educate yourself 🥰 |
