Although these still look like sticks at this point. Will be gorgeous mid-late summer and fall. |
They are really coming out now (we have 2). If you are near Bradley blvd in Bethesda, usually many along the wooded road line heading toward Beltway crossover. |
Yes. |
|

OP here. OMG I'm in love. Love love love with DC spring.
Thank you all, PPs and I'll check back periodically (I bookmarked this post) to see if anything else shows up. |

OP again.
Re this Prunus cerasifera ‘Thundercloud’ (link to picture at 13:40) When it leafs out and the leaves are not baby leaves, are they green or that sort of black/ burgundy? |
No, dark purple-y leaves, I think. |
|
The purple one is the saucer or Chinese magnolia:

OP, if this is your first spring you picked a particularly pretty one. Maybe it's just because the winter was so long increasing the anticipation, but I think this spring is especially colorful.
|
| What's the tree that's been flowering for about a week now, that has big puffy pink pom poms, and the new leaves behind the pom poms are brownish? |
Crabapples? |
I think because the winter was so long, a lot of things ended up blooming at the same time rather than at different times, as would have happened if winter ended earlier. Spring has been compressed. |
Different type of cherry tree? |
Kwanzan cherry tree. |
