American Airlines and US Airways merger problems- miles and accounts

OP here. The merge miles account button appeared yesterday and worked! I had to book some flights and the process caused me to have to book with $. I think they charge $80 for miles booking but the usage is starting to be similar to united [still better] plus united has an approx $5 mileage book fee plus $50 on close in.

AA did use the last date on the merged accounts for expiration which was vastly to our benefit.
