How are we feeling about Charter Staff preferences now?

That's my biggest What's to prevent a SAHM from taking a $10k a year PT office job at the school in order to gain admission. (I almost have myself talked into trying to get one of these jobs next year!)

As I remember this is limited to no more than 10% of the student body, but that's still potentially a lot kids.

You have to be a FT staff member.

Okay. Former McKinsey & MBA here but also SAHM. I'll go back to work in the office for $30k a year in exchange for seats for my kids. Fair deal for all?

Who cares if you used to grind away at a consulting job or that you have an MBA? It makes it seem like you're defensive about being a SAHP or that you feel the school job is beneath you. Maybe that's not what you meant, but that's how it sounds.

+1 If you are a good employee of the school, it's a great deal for everyone. If you suck, then not.

I don't know for a fact but I would doubt it--once a child is in, he/she is already enrolled.

So you assume they'll just hand you one of these jobs even if you have no relevant experience?

Staff preference certainly makes more sense than sibling preference.

Just curious - are you concerned that someone will apply to work at a school and work there just long enough for their child to be accepted, then quit?
